  • 20 years — Legal marriage age for both men and women

How Age is Calculated from BS Date

Calculating age from a Bikram Sambat date requires special handling because BS months have varying lengths (29 to 32 days), unlike the relatively fixed Gregorian months. The process involves first converting your BS birth date to its AD equivalent using astronomical lookup tables, then computing the difference between the birth date and today's date.

The calculation accounts for the irregular month lengths in the BS calendar. For instance, Baishakh may have 31 days in one year but 30 in another. This means simply subtracting years is not enough — the tool must check the exact day count for each month in each year between your birth year and the current year. The result gives you a precise age in years, months, and days, along with the total number of days you have lived.
