When You Need a Nepali Application
Nepali formal applications (निवेदन) are required in many everyday situations across Nepal. Job applications are needed when applying for positions in both government and private sector organizations. Leave requests must be submitted in proper format to your employer or school when you need time off. Complaint letters (उजुरी) are necessary when filing grievances with authorities, whether about public services, consumer issues, or workplace problems.
Government petitions and requests form another major category. Nepalis regularly need to write applications for citizenship certificates, land registration, business permits, educational certificates, and various approvals from government offices. Each of these requires following the correct formal letter format to be accepted and processed. Without the proper format, your application may be rejected or delayed, costing you valuable time.
Key Elements of a Nepali Application
Every formal Nepali application must include specific elements to be considered valid. The recipient line (प्रापक) starts with "श्री" followed by the office or person's designation. The date (मिति) should be written in Bikram Sambat (BS) format, which is Nepal's official calendar. The subject line (विषय) briefly states the purpose in one line. The body (मूल भाग) starts with "सविनय निवेदन यसमा छ कि" for formal requests and contains the detailed purpose and justification. The closing (अन्त) includes "भवदीय" (Yours faithfully) along with your full name, address, contact number, and signature. Supporting documents should be listed using bullet points with the phrase "यसैसाथ संलग्न" (attached herewith).
